With a mad love for all things yin, flow and acro, she is dedicated to creating a lighthearted & empowering practice for people to fall in love with ~ a practice that is intended to awaken people to exactly how amazing their bodies & minds are meant to feel every day so that they may live & love every moment. When she’s not on the mat, Ciara enjoys walking barefoot in nature, getting creative in the kitchen, movie theatre popcorn, splashing in puddles and occasional Netflix binges.
My background in dance fuels my love to teach a creative, intuitive flowing class. My experience with injury reminds me to keep my sequences smart so my students practice safe, and still leave with that feeling of bliss. I completed my training in Toronto under the guidance of Ron Reid, Marla Meenakshi Joy and David Bruni. I am also a big fan of Dylan Werner. Yoga to me, is the self exploration of authentic self. I have found my true passion and true source of self care, both physically and mentally on my mat. The opportunity to share this with my students is a gift, this practice has truly planted my feet on the ground.
Coming from a competitive dance background, I eventually came to a crossroads where my body and mind were no longer feeling fulfilled or invested. I found yoga and body movement to rehabilitate my injured back, and I never looked back. My sisters are my best friends in the world, and on my off days you can find me watching football or maybe even bailing hay...and yes, I will be wearing cowboy boots.
Co-owner of Pure Yoga Ottawa, yoga teacher, Lululemon Ambassador, Wanderlust 2016 faculty member, and Yoga Teacher Trainer...I have over 400 hours of training in Classical Hatha, Core Vinyasa and Power yoga. My classes keep my students inspired with strong creative sequencing, and I love to teach an uplifting, strengthening sweaty practice. I teach because yoga has been the key for me to move through life with serenity, courage and curiosity.
Amanda DeGrace, owner of Little Lotus Yoga, has been offering specialized yoga classes in Prenatal, Postnatal (Mom & Baby) and Childrens Yoga for almost 15 years now! Little Lotus Yoga’s team of instructors can be found offering numerous weekly public classes across Ottawa as well as private classes in daycares and schools. Amanda has also developed extensive Teacher Training programs in these specialities and offers Yoga Alliance Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training and Yoga Alliance Registered Childrens Yoga Teacher Training in Ottawa, Montreal and other cities across Ontario and Quebec.

Michael has been a student of Yoga since 1998, seeking relief from back pain related to scoliosis, and something like enlightenment. His teaching blends anatomy of movement studies with traditional Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa. Michael uses simplicity and breath awareness to draw students deep into the core of the body – the seat of meditative awareness and postural stability. MEGAN MARIE GATES
Megan Marie is a yoga/movement teacher, sound healer, and meditation guide with feet in the forest, the big city and world-wide. She has been facilitating special events and workshops internationally since 2012. Coming from a background of theatre and dance, the fusion of creative and yogic arts led her to find her voice as a sound artist and holistic movement facilitator, with the desire to inspire joy and curiosity in her students. Megan Marie weaves sound work, shamanic practices, Earth-based ritual and fluid movement into her teachings and is deeply inspired by conscious communities, rewilding the heart, creative collectives and the healing power of nature.
Laurie has been practicing yoga for over 25 years, and teaching for over a decade. She has taught private and public classes, guided retreats, offered workshops and led teacher trainings. Her first yoga class was a game-changer, even though she was essentially dragged there kicking and screaming. Yoga became an anchor for her, providing both a solid philosophical foundation and an often-needed physical way to bring balance to the turbulent highs and lows of life. Having herself experienced three (3) traumatic brain injuries (TBI), she knows firsthand the benefits yoga can bring to the TBI community. Laurie is perpetually inspired by the sheer beauty of yoga, the simple synchronicity of one movement one breath, and the ability of the mind to find profound calm in the most challenging moments. She loves to introduce her students to a neverending journey of learning and discovery, and teaches yoga that is grounded in the science of alignment and inspired by the spirit of compassion. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher-extended (e-RYT), Trauma Sensitive Yoga, LoveYourBrain, Yoga for Depression & Anxiety (LFYP-1), and the Owner/Director of OmStudioLive, a Registered Yoga School (RYS). Learning to move our bodies in this world is a process that is literally filled with obstacles. From the day we first lift out head and drop it back down, to our first steps immediately followed by a fall, we experience all emotion yet driven by the spirit we strive for more. We learn to walk, jump, squat, lunge, twist, push, pull, transfer our weight, run, sequence, coordinate, dance and play. Somewhere down the line we also learn bad habits and begin to develop patterns that eventually leads us to bad posture, reduced mobility and both physical and emotional pain.
Yoga helps us change those patterns. We begin to quiet the mind by concentrating and finding balance between stillness and movement, we discover that the strength gained by awareness, proprioception, breath control and facing emotions can not only be helpful to our state of being but also affecting others in a positive way. In my opinion, this is the true potential of Yoga.
I will challenge you to seek your potential and strive for greatness while asking you to first follow your breath and honour your body for balance is the root to progression and growth.
Amy Longard is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and professionally trained Natural Food Chef who is passionate about helping people lead healthier, more balanced lives. Through nutritional consultation, coaching, education, and cooking, Amy aspires to help people reach their goals and overcome health challenges.

Shan co-owns White Pine Yoga in Pembroke, Ontario with her husband Pete and she is also the Founder and Executive Director of Peaceful Path Yoga Project, a non-profit organization that brings accessible yoga and meditation to vulnerable communities in the Ottawa Valley. She believes that yoga truly has the power to shape and change lives, that this practice should be accessible to everyone and that when we genuinely connect to our communities, we begin to experience the sweetness of moving closer to one another.
Drawing from her 17 years of personal practice and 10 years as a full time yoga teacher, Shan’s classes are a playful, genuine quest for truth ~ a journey through authenticity and vulnerability ~ striving for a sincere practice rather than a perfect one. In each of Shannon’s classes there is heartfelt dismantling, an unraveling and a joyfilled exploration to slowly put ourselves back together with a greatest sense of wholeness, acceptance and possibility. Working wth Shannon is a wholehearted adventure hOMe to ourselves ~ never asking to be anything more (or less) than our absolute imperfect best.
When not on her mat, you can find her paddle boarding with her sweetheart, drinking wine and dancing with her besties and trying to survive parenting three beautiful and crazy wildlings on a hobby farm in rural Ontario.
Peter’s love of all things Yogic was born from a timely introduction to meditation at age sixteen. His passion for yogic philosophy dates back to the early 90′s when he began his studies jointly in Philosophy and Religious Studies (Mahayana Buddhism) at McGill University. His practice of Hatha Yoga, which took root in 1998, blossomed in 2006 when he joined forces with his wife, partner, soul mate and fellow Yogi Shannon. Shan and Peter are proud – and some times exhausted – parents to three little Yogis who remind them every day to live their practice with all of its challenges. Peter’s careful and intuitive guidance, both on and off the mat, orients practitioners back to themselves, back to the moment, back to the source of their own experience and the truth therein contained – a Truth that is at once deeply personal yet mysteriously universal. Peter is also an iRest Yoga Nidra Instructor, Warriors at Ease Trainee, as well as a musician and lover of nature. He has worked extensively with special interest groups including Military, First Responders, Youth at Risk and Seniors in the treatment and mitigation of stress related illness. Wendy is an RYT 500+ with 14 years of teaching experience. Wendy’s teaching style is intimate and inclusive leaving you with an invitation to begin where you are in your body and allow the journey to unravel from the inside out. Andrew completed his first 200 hour yoga teacher training with Pure Yoga Ottawa in March 2016. He started practicing yoga 3 years ago to help overcome injuries. Back in March 2015, Andrew added Partner Yoga to his practice with Ciara and he's been coteaching alongside her ever since. When he’s not getting his acro on, you can find Andrew at Anytime Fitness. He is incredibly excited for the opportunity to help build this community of OMies partner yogis and to be able to share it again at City of Om!
Jamie Rigby is one of the co-owners of The Dailey Method® Ottawa studio. Jamie has been taking classes and studying The Method since 2013 with his wife and co-owner, Sarah Thompson.
As a competitive athlete, Jamie has experienced many different training programs and is most impressed with the efficiency and effectiveness of the Dailey Method® workout. He appreciates how The Method creates a balance of flexibility and lean muscle across the entire body that provide him with agility, speed and strength for the large variety of sports he participates in.
Before moving back to Ottawa, Jamie received his Dailey Method teacher training through founder Jill Dailey in San Francisco. Jamie is thrilled to have brought this transformative workout to his community in Ottawa!
Andrea began practicing asana (the physical practice of yoga) in her early 20′s as a means to open her tight overworked muscles after years of training marathons, adventure races and triathlons. Her first experience with yoga lit up her life and offered a method of training in a new way. Her practice continues to evolve by drawing inspiration from many different forms of yoga particularly Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin and Power. She is known for combining strength and power with softness and fluid motion in a creative flow wrapped together with a little yoga humour. All while instilling the importance of proper alignment and smart sequencing to create a balanced practice with both Yin/Yang
Andrea completed her 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training in 2004 at a summer intensive program in Ottawa led by Yogi Vishva. Andrea has taken numerous workshops and trainings over the years but has learned the most from her ever growing students and is currently teaches around the Ottawa community. Andrea’s classes cater for a wide-range of students and include instruction for corporate clients, Pure Yoga Ottawa, and Ottawa South Community Centre. Her specialty class is Yoga For Athletes, she taught for the Ottawa Senators for 5 years and privates for former Ottawa Captain Daniel Alfredsson for the last 6 years of his career with Ottawa. One of Andrea main passions is travelling and facilitating adventurous therapeutic yoga retreats around the world from Costa Rica to Ireland, Italy and some in Canada. Her intention is always to provide a fresh creative class geared specifically to her students at hand. I am in my 9th year of teaching yoga and have completed over 800hrs of training. I am proud to be recognized as a leader in our community both as a teacher and entrepreneur, recently named one of Ottawa’s 40 Under Forty in 2014 and currently an Ambassador for Lululemon.

My first 200 hour yoga teacher training was led by Todd Lavictoire, Jennifer Stow, and Megan Campbell. After this incredible experience, I needed MORE!!! This led to completing the Yoga Tune Up® Level 1 certification, YTU Immersions, and assisting five 200hour YTTs around Ottawa. I also adored working through the Desire Map process completely the Intro, Level 1, and Level 2 with Kat Durie. I've had so much fun travelling North America to learn, assist, and volunteer at many YTTs, Yoga Tune Up® classes, workshops and conferences.
I am currently teaching classes and workshops at yoga studios and fitness spaces around Ottawa, leading retreats in both Canada and the US, and loving my role as Yoga & Wellness Manager at The Retreat at Strathmere (if you haven’t been there yet… you need to make it happen. Strathmere is magical!). I am also THRILLED to be offering my first 200hr Yoga Teacher Training this summer at PranaShanti Yoga Centre with Devinder Kaur and many other great collaborators.

Michelle's teaching reveals her profound love and adoration for the body's inherent wisdom and ability to express truth. With an unquenchable thirst for learning and growth, she has studied extensively in Ahimsa, Restorative, Para and Ashtanga Yoga as well as S-Factor Feminine Movement. Michelle is equipped to inspire women in living a wildly vibrant and powerful life fuelled by passion in the moment, truth in movement, and freedom in the feminine body. Michelle is a life and feminine empowerment coach in addition to being a teacher, teacher trainer and co-owner of Ahimsa Yoga Centres in the GTA with her husband J-P Tamblyn-Sabo.
ANNE WANDA TESSIER
Anne Wanda Tessier is an E-RYT certified Yoga Teacher and Restorative Yoga Trainer. She teaches various styles of yoga including Hatha, Restorative, Yin, Meridian and Therapeutic Yoga.
Life’s daily routines can be overwhelming, and Anne finds that yoga helps to find balance, restore the body and find calm during stressful times. Anne has studied restorative yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater and Andrea Peloso, and has also assisted Judith in her trainings. She has been teaching restorative yoga for over three years.
In her classes, Anne’s calm voice guides you through a practice that is suitable for beginners and advanced, offering various options throughout the class. Focusing on proper alignment, breathing techniques and offering options for students, Anne’s aim is to make it a safe and welcoming environment where students are comfortable and feel supported and safe throughout the class.
Sarah Thompson is the master teacher and co-owner of The Dailey Method® Ottawa studio. Sarah has been taking classes and studying The Method since 2010 and absolutely loves the workout, community it attracts and the way it makes her look and feel. After her first class in Vancouver, Sarah was amazed at how good she felt during and after her workout and how quickly she was finding physical results. As a competitive athlete, Sarah experienced many injuries and struggled to find a workout that provided physical results and did not aggravate her injuries. The Dailey Method® classes provided her a way to achieve her fitness goals and to do so in a healthy, fun, community oriented atmosphere. Before moving back to Ottawa, Sarah’s hometown, Sarah received her Dailey Method teacher certification through founder Jill Dailey in San Francisco and taught at the Vancouver studio. Sarah’s passion for teaching and The Dailey Method comes out in every class she teaches. She and her husband Jamie Rigby (co-owner) are ecstatic that this transformative workout has been embraced by their home community!
Yoga teacher, Yoga Teacher Trainer, and recipient of Ottawa's Top Yoga Instructor Award for 2015, Nigel has over 500 hours of training in Classical Hatha, Prana Flow (with Shiva Rea) and Core Strength Vinyasa (with Sadie Nardini). His classes emphasize the connection between the energetic body and mental, physical and emotional well-being, helping students translate the movement of Prana, or energy, into functional strength and flexibility. His focus on fluid and therapeutic movement leaves students feeling centred, empowered and whole. Nigel teaches to help people feel connected to themselves and their community. His mission is to share the gift of yoga with as many people as possible. Nigel leads retreats and trainings internationally. His public classes take place at Pure Yoga Ottawa and Elevate Yoga.
Ichih Wang is a Yoga Teacher and a Life Coach since 2004. Currently residing in Toronto as a Psychotherapist-in-Training and teaching at Ahimsa Yoga Toronto. Her goal is to provide access to healing by bridging yoga and therapy in a safe community environment. She imparts her radiant spirit and joy of life in her classes and coaching life's limitless possibilities. Her classes are inspiring, empowering and therapeutic.
